Milo Ventimiglia‘s Crackle original series Chosen has added several new faces to the second season.
One Tree Hill alum Chad Michael Murray will star opposite Ventimiglia, who is reprising his role as Ian Mitchell in the action drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Season two continues Ian’s story as it goes deeper into the deadly game the Mitchells are swept into and follows the lives of others who have also received mysterious boxes forcing them to kill — or else.
Murray will play one of those characters, Jacob Orr, a bartender and surfer who is presented with an impossible choice: Kill an innocent family or see his own brother sacrificed. The tension builds as Jacob encounters a world of random assassinations and false identities — and slowly discovers his own capacity to do the unthinkable to protect what matters most to him.
Additionally, Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) and Sarah Roemer (Disturbia) have joined the ensemble, which welcomes back original castmembers Nicky Whelan and Brett Davern.
Production on the second season, consisting of six half hours, wraps in L.A. on Oct. 18.
Creators Ben Ketai and Ryan Lewis return to executive produce the new installments with Ventimiglia and Russ Cundiff. Evan Charnov (Lost Boys: The Thirst), who also is an EP, will co-write the series with Ketai.
The first season was the No. 2 most-watched to date for Crackle, a multiplatform digital-content hub, right behind Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld. Chosen will return later this year.
Murray, who appears in Fruitvale Station and has several films in the can, including Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas and Nicolas Cage‘s Left Behind, is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment. Routh, also seen in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, is repped by UTA and Main Title Entertainment. The ICM Partners-repped Roemer counts TV series The Event and Daybreak as credits.
Ventimiglia, repped by CAA and Management 360, next stars in TNT’s Mob City, Grace of Monaco and Heat. Ketai is repped by APA and Circle of Confusion. Lewis is repped by APA.
