Jordan Levin is close to taking a job as executive vp at Xbox Entertainment Studios, where he’d work under Nancy Tellem to create original programming for the Microsoft unit, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Wednesday.
Tellem has been running the Santa Monica-based studio as its president since 2012 with the goal of producing on-demand “TV” shows for the younger-skewing audience that subscribes to Xbox Live, a task that Levin appears well suited for, given he helped launch The WB in 1995.
Tellem’s most high-profile project in the works thus far is a show based on Xbox’s game franchise, Halo, that is to be produced by Steven Spielberg.
Levin is also chairman of the board of NATPE and was co-founder of Generate LA-NY, a digital media company acquired by Alloy Digital in 2012.
Microsoft charges about $60 a year for Xbox Live and has attracted more than 50 million people to the service.
Microsoft declined to comment.
