Of the publishers, Fantagraphics heads up the list with 18 nominations, including Best Single Issue (Love and Rockets: New Stories #6), Best Comics-Related Book (The Love and Rockets Companion) and Best Publication Design (Beta Testing the Apocalypse). Image Comics closely follows, with 17 nominations (and an additional three shared).
This year marks the 26th year for the awards, with the panel of judges including cartoonist James Romberger (whose 7 Miles a Second garnered a nomination for artist Marguerite Van Cook in the Best Painter category) and retailer Kathy Bottarini. All professionals in the comic book industry can vote for the awards, with the ballot available soon online. The ceremony will take place on July 25.
