David Letterman has announced he’ll be signing off from CBS‘ Late Show for good. During the taping for Thursday’s episode, Letterman gave a sincere thanks to the network, his staff and viewers — adding cheekily: “What this means now, Paul [Shaffer] and I can be married.”
Letterman added that a date for his final broadcast has not been set, saying it’ll be “sometime in the not too distant future.”
