STOCKTON-

Stockton Police say an officer died Wednesday as a result of his injuries from an on-duty crash on May 28.

Officer Scott Hewell was responding to a shots fired call when he and another officer hit the center median near El Dorado and Jamestown Street, police said. The second officer was released from the hospital later that day.

Police ultimately arrested 32-year-old Jimmie Lee Turner for allegedly firing his gun at another car in a fit of road rage.
