SACRAMENTO-

For $271, Erik Gasca of Yuba City purchased his first gun Friday.

“It’s just something small for home security,” Gasca said.

But instead of walking out of Just Guns gun shop with a brand new .9 millimeter handgun, Gasca left the store with a receipt.

“I have to wait 10 days while they do background checks,” Gasca told FOX40.

In fact, this is just one example of a restriction in place meant to regulate guns and gun owners, and there are more regulations on the way in 2014.

For instance, people who buy long guns (rifles, shotguns, etc.) must first pass a test and then register them.

Magazines that carry more than 10 rounds will be banned, starting in July. And by 2016, lead ammunition for hunting will be banned in California.

Gun retailers, like Josh Deaser of Just Guns, says each new regulation is another step towards a gun-free society.

“It should scare you,” Deaser said. “It starts with one thing and continues to grow.”
