Having vanquished two fellow Republican challengers in last week's primary, congressional candidate Doug Ose has challenged incumbent Dr. Ami Bera to a series of five debates.

Bera, a freshman Democrat and Ose, a former congress member, were the top two primary finishers and will face-off in the November general election for California's Seventh Congressional district.

In his press release, Ose noted in 2012, Bera and former congress member Dan Lungren held only one debate, thus depriving voters a chance to evaluate the differences between each candidate.

"These debates will allow voters to hear the difference between Congressman Bera's and my vision for a stronger America," Ose said. "I hope Congressman Bera will accept my invitation."

The five debates proposed by Ose would include one in Elk Grove that he suggested be conducted by the Sacramento County Farm Bureau, the Elk Grove Citizen and the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce. The other proposed debates would be in Rancho Cordova, on KCRA,  on Capitol Public Radio and at the Sacramento Rotary.

The Bera campaign has not responded to request seeking comment on Ose's challenge. A copy of Ose's letter to Bera can be viewed here.
