With little over a month to go until the release of Gareth Edwards’ reboot of Godzilla, the latest preview focuses on the destruction caused by the giant monster’s rampage from a human scale.
More so than any earlier trailer, the new “extended look” footage tells a story that’s less based on the spectacle of a giant monster crossing the country and leaving carnage and disaster in its wake than on one firmly rooted in the lives of those affected by the carnage and disaster — including offering more context for Bryan Cranston’s role in the movie, with a nod back to the franchise’s atomic fear roots.
