[Warning: This story contains key plot points from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.]
Captain America: The Winter Soldier villain Max Hernandez has booked his next gig.
The actor, who played Jasper Sitwell — a Hydra mole inside SHIELD — in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and ABC’s Agents of SHIELD — has boarded Amazon’s pilot Hand of God.
The hourlong drama follows Judge Pernell (Sons of Anarchy‘s Ron Perlman), a law-bending man with a call girl on the side, who has a religious awakening. He begins to have visions and hear voices — which could be God speaking to him — through his ventilator-bound son. Dana Delany co-stars as his wife, Crystal.
Hernandez will recur as Toby, the chief of police in San Vicente who often uses his stature to make others uncomfortable. As Pernell’s crusade picks up steam and his vigilante activities escalate, Toby takes on the case, escalating his personal grudge against the judge.
Ben Watkins (Burn Notice) penned the script for the drama, which will be directed by World War Z‘s Marc Forster. Watkins and Forster are executive producing the project alongside Perlman and Brian Wilkins.
Hernandez next recurs on TNT’s upcoming drama The Last Ship. His credits also include The Shield and Sleeper Cell.
