STOCKTON-
San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputies tore the front part of a Stockton home apart while trying to capture a man wanted for murder Friday after a 15-hour standoff.
Joseph DiBartolomeo was found in the crawlspace of the home along Picardy Drive. His arrest drew cheers from neighbors and onlookers.
A San Joaquin County SWAT team used a K-9 officer, flash bang grenades, a remote-controlled vehicle and even an armored vehicle to tear off the front of the home to get to DiBartolomeo.
“That was unusual. In my 30 years in this business, I have never seen that,” San Joaquin County spokesperson Deputy Les Garcia said.
Unusual, but the Garcia said that destruction was necessary.
“He was determined. We had received information that he would not give himself up alive,” he said.
DiBartolomeo was one of four people wanted in connection with a marijuana grow robbery that turned deadly.
