CERES-

Police in Ceres say a man chased down his wife’s alleged attacker and held him down until officers could arrive Wednesday morning.

The woman was on the phone in her car when investigators say 22-year-old Jay Nelson climbed in the passenger side and closed the door. The woman was able to escape after a short struggle, officers say.

Police say the woman ran into her home and told her husband, who then chased Nelson toward Riverview Park until he caught his wife’s alleged assailant while a neighbor called 911.

The first officer that responded apparently recognized Nelson from an arrest just a day earlier.

Nelson was booked into jail for attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, attempted robbery and probation violation.
