Haim Saban is set to headline the 2014 NAB Show Opening, participating in a Q&A with NAB president and CEO Gordon Smith at the electronic media show, set to take place in Las Vegas from April 5-10.
Saban’s Q&A, following Smith’s “State of the Broadcast Industry” address, is scheduled for Monday, Apr. 7.
Saban is the chairman of Univision Communications and the founder of Saban Capital Group and the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution. Univision Communications is the parent company of Univision Network, Univision Television Group, Univision Radio and the Disney/ABC joint venture Fusion. Saban Capital Group currently holds the rights to Power Rangers and Paul Frank Industries and has stakes in pay TV, telecom and other media companies worldwide. Saban previously founded the international TV production, distribution and merchandising company Saban Entertainment, which produced the X-Men and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

“Haim Saban is a true pioneer in the broadcast and entertainment industry who continually finds innovative ways to create and deliver entertainment to international audiences,” Smith said in a statement. “I look forward to discussing the future of the global media business with Mr. Saban during our conversation at NAB Show.”
The legendary media mogul and his wife, Cheryl, are also noted philanthropists who established the Saban Family Foundation to support medical, children’s and education programs, which include the Saban Free Clinic in Los Angeles.
The NAB Show, presented by the National Association of Broadcasters, is the world’s largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums.
