Fox is going big for its Batman prequel Gotham.
In a rare move, the network aired the first promo for the Ben McKenzie starrer during Monday’s season premiere of limited series 24: Live Another Day. This marks a departure for the network, which typically unspools trailers for its new fall fare during its upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers, scheduled for next week.

The drama, in which characters are based on those from the DC Comics universe, stars Southland alum McKenzie as the commissioner-to-be James Gordon; it also includes a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Catwoman (Camren Bicondova), among others. The drama explores Gordon’s origin story as well as the villains that made Gotham famous. Dona Logue co-stars as Detective Harvey Bullock and Jada Pinkett Smith plays villain Fish Mooney, as the series looks to reveal a new chapter that has yet to be told in the DC Comics lore.
The pilot for this Warner Bros. Television project was penned by Bruno Heller (The Mentalist) and directed and exec produced by Emmy nominee Danny Cannon (CSI, Nikita). John Stephens also will serve as an exec producer on the series.
An official time slot and premiere date have yet to be announced.
