Sylvia Day, the best-selling author of the hit erotica series Crossfire has signed what the publisher has described as an “eight-figure deal” with St. Martin’s Press to jump ship from current publisher Penguin for her new work.
The deal covers her new upcoming two-book Blacklist series, which follows the love affair of a young Manhattan couple — one a Columbia student, the other at Fordham — over the years. Book one is scheduled for release in 2015.
“After falling in love with Sylvia’s Crossfire series, I realized that when someone writes with the kind of emotional power and intensity that Sylvia does, she is the kind of author who can break all records and become a decades-long phenomenon,” said St. Martin’s senior vice president, Jennifer Enderlin, in a statement.
Crossfire has sold more than 13 million copies for Penguin since June 2012, following in the wake of Fifty Shades of Grey. Day, 40, had published more than 20 books before hitting it big with Crossfire.
Penguin will still publish the fourth and fifth books in the Crossfire series. Lionsgate acquired the rights to Crossfire with an eye to developing a TV series.
Day is represented by Kimberly Whalen of Trident Media Group.
