SEATTLE-

A helicopter has crashed near the Space Needle in Seattle, and firefighters are responding, the Seattle Police Department said Tuesday morning.

The chopper was used by both KOMO-TV and KING-TV to cover news stories in the Seattle area.

Seattle Fire Department is reporting two people are dead at the scene. Another person, a 37-year-old man, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

When the helicopter hit the ground, at least three cars caught fire nearby. The chopper was heading back to KOMO-TV to land when the crash happened.
