NBC’s Bob Greenblatt is bringing Nurse Jackie‘s Liz Brixius back into the NBC fold.
The former Nurse Jackie co-showrunner/co-creator has been tapped to oversee the network’s new Kate Walsh comedy Bad Judge, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Bad Judge marks the series TV return of Private Practice alum Walsh, who exec produces and stars as a hard-living, hard-rocking, sexually unapologetic woman who happens to be a highly respected judge in the San Bernardino criminal court system.

The single-camera comedy, from Universal Television and Gary Sanchez Productions, hails from writer Chad Kultgen (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) and is exec produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy, Anne Heche, Jill Messick and Miguel Sandoval.
Brixius and Linda Wallem co-created and served as showrunners on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, which Greenblatt developed during his tenure at the premium cable network. After production wrapped on the Edie Falco starrer’s fourth season, the duo exited the series as a result of their personal friction offscreen, sources told THR at the time.
For Brixius, female-driven comedy Bad Judge marks her second run on NBC after she served as a co-EP/writer on Matthew Perry‘s short-lived comedy Go On. Her credits include NBC’s passed-over comedy pilot Girlfriend in a Coma and co-writing the screenplay for Katherine Heigl feature One for the Money. She’s repped by WME.
