SOUTH SACRAMENTO-
Sacramento Metro Fire District crews battled an early morning house fire they believe was also an illegal marijuana grow.
The fire on Kennelford Circle in South Sacramento started at 2:30 Wednesday morning.
A neighbor saw flames coming from the home, fire crews arrived to find extreme heat and they couldn’t immediately go in.
A hole was torn in the roof to alleviate the heat.
Once inside, firefighters say the home was fortified with thick doors, locks and bars.
No marijuana plants were found, but equipment, such as lighting kits and ventilators, were found by firefighters, indicating the home may have been used for growing pot.
The entire home was destroyed and heavy smoke spread to the home next to it.
The fire is still under investigation.
The home did not appear to have anyone living in it. No one was inside at the time of the fire. No one was injured.
