Divorce Court will remain in session through the 2014-15 season, producers 20th Television announced Tuesday.
The legal franchise — currently celebrating its 15th anniversary season — has been renewed through 2014-15 and will continue to run on Fox Television, Tribune, Sinclair, Meredith and Scripps-Howard stations
The news comes after Divorce Court — with Judge Lynn Toler — delivered its highest November sweep average since 2010, rising 23 percent versus the same period a year ago (1.6 household rating vs. 1.3). In addition, the series just hit a two-year weekly ratings high, delivering Divorce Court‘s best household number (1.7) since December 2011. Among first-run syndicated fare, Divorce Court ranks third in growth year-over-year (up 15 percent with a 1.5 vs. 1.3).
“Divorce Court continues to thrive on daytime television thanks to Judge Lynn Toler and the outrageous couples that enter her courtroom each day,” 20th Television exec vp and general sales manager Paul Franklin said. “Lynn’s ability to simultaneously entertain viewers while compassionately counseling her litigants is translating to ratings highs; we are thrilled that Divorce Court will remain a key component on local stations’ daytime blocks.”
Divorce Court is the longest-running court show on TV, reinventing itself three times on daytime TV (from 1957-69, 1985-92 and in its current form since 1999). The series is produced by Monet Lane Productions and distributed by 20th Television. Gail Steinberg serves as executive producer.
