TORONTO – Veteran film acquisitions and sales executive Charlotte Mickie is leaving Entertainment One’s international film division.
Her departure, set for January, comes as Harold van Lier is set to board as president of eOne Films International, based in London. Van Lier arrives at eOne after serving as executive vp international distribution at Studiocanal.
Mickie’s departure also follows Sally Caplan leaving the company as managing director of eOne Films International.
The indie distribution arm has also bolstered its film acquisitions business ahead of van Lier’s arrival by negotiating production financing from City National Bank and OneWest Bank.
In its latest move, eOne is launching Seville International through its Montreal-based arm, Les Films Srville, to focus on indie films from Quebec and other French-speaking territories internationally.
The hire of van Lier comes as eOne looks to also increase its direct distribution efforts, with a focus especially on the U.K. market alongside Alex Hamilton, managing director of eOne Films U.K., and other international territories.
Mickie joined eOne in 2008 when the Canadian distributor acquired rival Maximum Films, where she had served as managing director.
“The contribution Charlotte has made to the independent film community is unparalleled. She has helped countless young filmmakers find their voice and realize success around the world,” said Nelson Kuo-Lee, executive vice president and COO of the global film group at eOne, in a statement on Tuesday.
