AUBURN-

Three men said to be involved in a Wednesday morning high-speed, stolen car pursuit that resulted in two deaths were identified by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office later in the afternoon.

Nineteen-year-old twins Roman and Ruslan Glukhoy and 21-year-old Yuriy Merkushev were arrested for the deadly chase.

The men were being chased after a burglary investigation in Auburn around 5 a.m. The three suspects led police on a chase through Auburn’s side streets, before ditching their car and stealing another one.

At that location, Merkushev was taken into custody as the other two continued running.

They then took that stolen truck down I-80, with officers in pursuit. They exited in the Antelope area, and reached speeds of 90-100 mph as they ran red lights.

Near Antelope Road, their truck ran a red light and crashed into a car, killing a man and a young girl.

The Glukhoy brothers ran from the scene, but Roman was said to have been caught right away. A sheriff’s deputy suffered a broken hand while making the arrest, investigators say. Ruslan was found a short time later and was taken into custody with the help of a K-9, according to deputies.
