The Banaban Child Welfare Group (BCW) has applauded contributors to the educational welfare of the 82 disadvantaged students on Rabi Island.
Different stakeholders and other donors had contributed $6707 for the students education assistance this year.
Secretary for BCW, Terikano Takesau yesterday said children of deceased parents, disabled, orphans, children of single mothers were fortunate to be assisted by BWC.
She said the only problem that the organisation faced was transportation to various schools on the island.
“The distribution of stationery to our various recipients at all schools on the island is very hard and expensive.
“We have a small office to accommodate office work and sorting of school stationery which is another problem.”
Mrs Takesau said the organisation needed a vehicle to help distribute school materials for recipients at all schools.
“This is to help us in our travelling, monitoring all schools and get recipients’ school reports for feedback to donors.
“This transport will also assist us in travelling to all villages to assist in awareness programmes.”
BCW has been working closely with Nature Pacific Limited, Australia in getting sponsors for these underprivileged children.
