If the teaser trailer for Zach Braff‘s Wish I Was Here feels familiar, that may be the point.
Ten years after the release of Braff’s debut feature, Garden State, starring himself alongside Natalie Portman, the first clip from his follow-up has debuted online. The clip is set to “A Simple Song” by The Shins, whose “New Slang” featured prominently in Garden State.
This time, Kate Hudson, Josh Gad, Jim Parsons, Mandy Patinkin and fellow Scrubs alum Donald Faison feature in the ensemble title.
Rights to the Kickstarter-funded film, which premiered at Sundance in January, were acquired by Focus Features for $2.75 million, sources told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.
In a largely positive take at the festival, THR‘s reviewer Boyd van Hoeij deemed the title “a more mature work from actor-director-producer Zach Braff that feels like a Garden State for grown-ups.”
