FX is staying in the Louis C.K. business. FX Productions announced Tuesday that it has entered an overall deal with the comedian that will see him developing and producing new series for FX Networks.
The deal, which is not related to C.K.’s FX series Louie, sees the multihyphenate working under his production company, Pig Newton, and partnering with Louie producer Blair Breard.
“Working with Louis C.K. has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my career,” said FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf. “I am thrilled that our relationship with Louis and Blair Breard will continue for the foreseeable future through this deal with FXP. So many incredibly talented artists want to work with Louis and follow down the independent and idiosyncratic creative trail he has blazed. I can’t wait to see who he brings through our door, not to mention any new projects that he wants to create for us.”
Louie, created, written and directed by C.K., has been a boon to FX’s comedy brand. The critically lauded series has scored multiple Emmy nominations, with C.K. taking home outstanding writing for a comedy in 2012. It returns to the network in May 2014.
Under his new deal, C.K. will develop pilots for FX Networks — which now includes upstart FXX. He’ll have the option to write or direct any of these projects, serving as EP alongside Breard, who will serve as producer or EP.
C.K. is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment, also attached as producers on any projects. The deal was brokered on behalf of C.K. and Pig Newton by David Weber and Tom Collier of Sloane Offer Weber & Dern LLP.
