Netflix‘s Daredevil has found blind attorney Matt Murdock’s best friend.
Elden Henson will star as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Matt Murdock’s (Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox) best friend and legal partner, Marvel announced Thursday.

In a town full of crime and corruption, Foggy’s friendship to the community and passion for improving it have made him a friend to its many residents from all walks of life. The character was portrayed by Jon Favreau in 2003’s Ben Affleck-toplined Daredevil film adaptation.
In the comics, Foggy is a deeply conflicted character, often disagreeing with his friend Matt, vying for the attention of law firm secretary Karen Page and serving as the comic relief.

“Elden plays one of the most important characters in the world of Marvel’s Daredevil, and we’re thrilled to see Foggy Nelson brought to life by such an incredibly talented actor,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television. “He perfectly captures the heart and soul of this series, bringing an added resonance to Matt Murdock’s fight against the injustice in their great city.”
Henson’s casting comes after Rosario Dawson boarded in a mysterious role and Vincent D’Onofrio joined as “The Kingpin.” In late May, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Spartacus‘ Steven S. DeKnight would be taking over the reins as showrunner from Drew Goddard, who will be segueing to Sinister Six.
Netflix picked up the 13-episode Daredevil — along with Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, as well as miniseries The Defenders — in a massive pact with Marvel. Daredevil is the first series out of the pack, debuting in 2015. It is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
Henson, who appears as Pollux in the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay films, is repped by TalentWorks and manager Jelani Johnson. He was Fulton Reed in The Mighty Ducks movies, with other credits including The Butterfly Effect, Cast Away, Deja Vu and She’s All That.
