STOCKTON-

A warehouse  at the intersection of Aurora and Scotts Avenue in Stockton caught on fire Tuesday morning, not to the surprise of local fire fighters.

“A lot of times they will just start little campfires to stay warm,” Stockton Fire Department Spokesperson Ralph Ibarra said, speaking of the homeless population in the area.

Ibarra says the fire department is called to the warehouse a least once a week for this reason. This morning’s fire started at around 5:40 a.m.

Crews were able to put the fire out quickly, needing to call a second alarm because the first engine on scene blew a tire. A power pole also suffered damage, but no power was ever lost because of it.

Workers at businesses in the area tell FOX40 they hope the city just tears the building down because it’s nothing but trouble.

Tuesday’s fire started in the former office portion of the building, in the main warehouse section there is no roof and remains virtually empty
