Meryl Streep and John Williams broke their own Oscar records on Thursday.
August: Osage County star Streep was nominated for best actress, while Williams was nominated for his score for The Book Thief.
This marks Streep’s 18th nomination overall, breaking her own record (she has won three times, for 1979’s Kramer vs. Kramer, 1982’s Sophie’s Choice and 2011’s The Iron Lady).
She’s trailed by Jack Nicholson and Katharine Hepburn, who have been nominated 12 times each.
Other 2014 acting nominees who have previously scored nominations include Philomena’s Judi Dench (seven noms, one win), Blue Jasmine‘s Cate Blanchett (six noms, one win), American Hustle‘s Amy Adams (five noms), August: Osage County‘s Julia Roberts (four noms, one win), The Wolf of Wall Street’s Leonardo DiCaprio (four noms), American Hustle‘s Jennifer Lawrence (three noms, one win), Gravity‘s Sandra Bullock (two noms, one win), American Hustle‘s Christian Bale (two noms, one win), The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Jonah Hill (two noms), American Hustle‘s Bradley Cooper (two noms) and Nebraska‘s Bruce Dern (two noms).

Williams, meanwhile, landed his 44th nomination for best original score, passing the late Alfred Newman to become the category’s sole record holder. The composer — who has won five times — has 49 overall nominations, the most for a living person and second only to Walt Disney.
