NATOMAS –

The driver behind the wheel of a charter bus carrying high school students and their chaperones when it crashed last week is identified as a Natomas woman.

Family members confirm Tala Taiao was driving the bus at the time of Thursday’s crash, and died from the fiery impact with a FedEx truck that crossed the grassy median.

Taiao is a mother of two.

The NTSB say an electronic data box on the bus is still intact, and hopefully will offer insights into what happened right before and during the crash.

The box on the FedEx truck was destroyed.

The driver of the FedEx truck was identified earlier in the weekend as Tim Evans from Elk Grove.
