Just how noir is the new trailer for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For? The new teaser fills its running time with femmes fatale, doomed love affairs and threats of violence — which is to say, it’s pretty damn noir.
Mixing material from the previous preview with new footage, the 60-second trailer reveals Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Liotta and Josh Brolin as three of the poor schmoes trapped in Miller’s black-and-white crime-ridden metropolis, with Eva Green and Jessica Alba turning up as the women causing trouble behind the scenes (Thankfully, Jaime King is glimpsed in action for a second, showing that women can do more than vamp sexily).
STORY: New ‘Sin City’ Trailer Showcases Dames to Kill For
“Power is a fragile thing,” the voiceover at the start of the trailer warns, which may not exactly be the “with great power comes great responsibility” attitude that audiences have come to expect from comic book movies, but — as the trailer demonstrates — isn’t entirely untrue, either.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For hits theaters Aug. 22. Watch the trailer below.
