SACRAMENTO-

Just after midnight, 911 received a call of a man passed out in his car at the Shell gas station off of Elverta and Watt in North Highlands.

Responding fire crews woke the man up; for unknown reasons, they say the man put his car into reverse and struck two firefighters. One was sent to the hospital with minor injuries the other was treated and released.

The man, identified as Leontiy Kapakly, then drove into the Walmart parking lot nearby, running over a couple of trees before running off, heading to a nearby home. He was caught by a canine unit from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, hiding in the yard.

Deputies says some papers from Kapakly’s car came out when he was driving around, so they were able to track him down.
