Production executive Sam Dickerman has left Sony and is joining Disney’s production team as executive vp production.
Dickerman, whose duties will include development and production of the studio’s branded live-action films, will report directly to Disney motion picture production president Sean Bailey.
“Sam is a talented executive with a history of creating dynamic and compelling films,” said Bailey. “His passion for filmmaking, proven track record and wealth of experience make him a great addition to our Disney live-action team.”

Saidd Dickerman: “It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become a part of The Walt Disney Studios. While I will always cherish my time at Sony and Columbia Pictures, I am tremendously excited to join Sean and the Disney production team and can’t wait to get started.”
Dickerman is an entertainment industry veteran, having worked with some of the most talented directors, writers and actors in Hollywood. He most recently served as executive vp production at Sony’s Columbia Pictures, where he worked on such films as American Hustle, Salt and Battle: Los Angeles. Dickerman joined Columbia in 2005 as senior vp production. In addition to dramatic releases, he oversaw comedies such as Click, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and Grown Ups.
Before joining Columbia, Dickerman was president of Radiant Productions, the production company of Wolfgang Petersen, where he worked on such films as Troy and The Perfect Storm.
