PopSugar, which targets women, is teaming with international production company Core Media Group to develop and distribute scripted and nonscripted projects.
The content produced under this new pact will be targeted at PopSugar’s demographic of women 18-40. They will be for all platforms and channels, including broadcast, cable and online.
Core Media will manage the joint television projects, while PopSugar will oversee the joint online projects.
“Core Media Group and PopSugar are experts in their respective fields,” said Jen O’Connell, head of U.S. Television for Core Media Group. “With strong, combined ties to both the traditional and online entertainment communities, this collaboration makes sense on every level.”
O’Connell and her team will work with PopSugar to create content for PopSugar while opening its content to TV platforms and developing shows that can launch on PopSugar properties before going to TV.
“As we continue our rapid growth in video, we want to partner with the best production talent in the business, and Core Media Group is high on our list,” said David Grant, president of PopSugar Studios. “They have it all — forward-thinking execs, solid network relationships and an impressive portfolio of producers and talent.”
CoreMedia’s Halfire-Core Entertainment recently teamed with A&E for Highway to Heaven. In January, PopSugar partnered with TV Guide Network for a daily 30-minute entertainment show, PopSugar Now.
