The Savages follows brothers Lazlo (Lab Rats’ Brandon Salgado) and Russell Banks (Will Babbitt), who are forced to change their suburban lifestyle and learn the ways of high-tech treasure hunting when their mother, Rita (Rachel Cannon), remarries. On top of having to adjust to a new stepfamily, they find themselves living on a five-generations-old boat with “creepy twins” that were found in the jungle and a ruthless rival treasure hunter that is never far away.

Production is underway on the half-hour pilot.
This marks a reunion of sorts for Cannon, who had a recurring role on Kickin’ It, currently in its fourth season. She is repped by Resolution, Principato-Young and Stone Meyer. She next stars in ABC’s freshman comedy Fresh Off the Boat and has appeared in Major Crimes, The Millers, 2 Broke Girls, Underemployed, Ghost Whisperer and Two and a Half Men.
The news comes after Disney XD recently greenlighted an original TV movie, Pants on Fire. The network’s original programming currently includes Kickin’ It, Lab Rats, Crash & Bernstein, Mighty Med, Phineas and Ferb, Randy Cunningham and Wander Over Yonder.
