A massive fire caused a partial roof collapse at Animo South Los Angeles Charter High School on Tuesday afternoon

LOS ANGELES (KTLA)—

A fire burned through the roof of a building at a high school in the South Los Angeles area Tuesday afternoon.

The second alarm fire caused a partial roof collapse, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.The blaze was reported at Animo South Los Angeles Charter High School  at 11130 South Western Ave. (map), and crews were responding shortly before 2:30 p.m.

School was not in session at the time, according to the Los Angeles School Police Department. The campus is affiliated with the Los Angeles Unified School District but it run by Green Dot Schools, a charter operator.

Smoke was towering about the flames at the school in the unincorporated Westmont area.

A drone could be seen circling above the fire and a nearby crowd that gathered to watch the firefighters, aerial video showed.There was no information on what may have caused the fire.
