Elk Grove Police released a composite sketch (see above) of a suspect who staged an armed robbery while posing as a SMUD employee.

The armed robbery occurred on the evening of Thursday, April 12 when the suspect posed as a SMUD employee to gain entry into a residence on the 7600 block of Glenbain Way. When the suspect entered the residence, he brandished a handgun at the victim.  

The suspect threatened the victim, demanded money and the victim complied giving him an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. 

The suspect was described as a Caucasian male, approximately 30 to 40 years of age,  approximately 5’5” tall , approximately 200 lbs., with short sandy blond hair and a mustache. The suspect was wearing a plain short-sleeve t-shirt and khaki shorts.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (443-4357).  Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.  Tips can also be sent via SMS text message by entering CRIMES (274637) on a cell phone, followed by Tip 732 (agency identification number) and the message.
