ROSEVILLE-

Bars in old Roseville are waiting for business to return after a mandatory $5 cover charge ordinance was suspended by the city council.

The City of Roseville had originally implemented the ordinance to cut down on crime in the area, but it was wildly unpopular with businesses and customers alike.

Boxing Donkey bar owner Joe Tucey said his place saw a 20 to 25 percent decrease in business.

But is business picking up after that ordinance was suspended about a month ago?

“I think it’s too early to notice the increase. I think give it another month,” Tucey told FOX40. “I think through social media people will become more and more aware of it, and then once that happens I think we’ll get our crowds back.”

Tucey says he hopes the ordinance is gone forever, but will follow the city’s rules if it comes back.
