About this team
Kawaii pertains to something cute & adorable according to Japanese translation. Anything having to do with modern cartoon characters, manga or anime, big expressive eyes, glitter, hearts, flowers and small baby animals. Example: Sylvester the Cat is not Kawaii but Hello Kitty is Kawaii! There is a distinct characteristic to being Kawaii. It includes bows, hair clips, ribbons, key rings, accessories, leg warmers, mittens, scarves, hats, clothing, bright colors, ruffles, pastel colors, oversized toys & bags, bobby socks, plush stuffed toys, jewelry, adult clothes made to look like children's clothes (not be confused with Halloween costumes). Anything that has a pattern with cute fruit, pink, girly, glitter, quirky, magical inanimate objects that have facial features (i.e. toast, toilet paper etc.). Other items can include stickers, stationery, sewing fabric, beads, greeting cards, bracelets or rings with fruit, teddy bears or pieces of pie; cute frilly umbrellas, lollipops, butterflies, baby animals, lovable, charming, sweet but not old-fashioned; exemplifies innocence, cheerfulness, optimism; is never dark, black, gloomy or bad; girly-glam but not slutty or trashy; fantasy done w/ harmony, beauty, sweetness; Look at DokiDoki, Harajuku, Desu & Chibi styles from Japan. Check out San-X & Sanrio. What is NOT Kawaii: Goth, Lolita, Punk, Death, Grunge, Rock n Roll, Easy Rider, Industrial, Vintage, Antique, Marvel or DC comics, New Age, Black & White, Hawaiian, Exotic, Pirates, Safari, Shabby Chic, Country, Rustic, Victorian, Contemporary, Mod, Retro, etc. Example: Old Winnie the Pooh prints may be "cute" but they are not Kawaii --- they are Vintage and depending on the craft most likely Shabby Chic!
Who can join?
A Crafter must display at least 3 Kawaii items in their Etsy store at all times! It's ok to have other types of items but in order to qualify for KCST (Kawaii Cuteness Street Team), you must have a minimum of 3. ***30 days of no Kawaii displayed in shop, will result in suspension until stock is replenished! If you're not sure what Kawaii encompasses, please look up DokiDoki, Harajuku, Desu, Chibi, San-X, Sanrio AND read our Team's description for details! If at any point you stop making Kawaii items, your membership will be suspended and you can always come back when you resume your Kawaii themed crafts!
