Is the fourth time the charm?
The latest installment in Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott‘s The Greatest Event in Television History series debuted Thursday evening on Adult Swim. This time, “ex-smoker” Scott recruited the newly-minted Ant-Man (aka “bonafide movie star” Paul Rudd) to re-enact the opening credits of 1980s sitcom Bosom Buddies.

The original comedy starred Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari, with Rudd playing Hanks’ Kip/Buffy Wilson and Scott taking on Scolari’s Henry/Hilde Desmond dual roles in the redo Scene for scene, the two recreate Bosom Buddies‘ memorable opening, which includes the actors showing off their feminine side dressed in women’s clothing. Community‘s Gillian Jacobs, Mo Collins, Aisha Muharrar, Helen Slayton-Hughes and Saturday Night Live‘s Aidy Bryant also appear.
Often the best moments from the Greatest Event in Television History come in the “making-of” special. This one did not disappoint. Rudd went all out getting into the ’80s mindset, complete with a weather report from when Bosom Buddies premiered. Drama came after Rudd nearly didn’t show up on the first day of filming, forcing production to fire his replacement, Tom Hanks, at the last second. Yup, that Tom Hanks. Even original theme composer Billy Joel makes an appearance. Then, things get tragically uncomfortable when Scott discovers Rudd and his fictitious wife slept together.

Previous episodes featured several famous friends including Jon Hamm, Simon and Simon (October 2012); Amy Poehler, Hart to Hart (June 2013); and Jon Glaser, Catherine O’Hara, Chelsea Peretti and Kathryn Hahn, Too Close for Comfort (November 2013).
