Orphan Black and its star Tatiana Maslany were shut out of the Emmys early on Thursday—and BBC America’s clone conspiracy thriller made sure to address it with some cheeky tweets.
FULL COVERAGE The List of Emmy Nominees
Maslany, who plays nearly a dozen characters on Orphan Black, was considered a threat to sneak into the outstanding drama actress category, which will see Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Kerry Washington (Scandal), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), Claire Danes (Homeland) and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey) vying for the prize. The Hollywood Reporter‘s awards analyst Scott Feinberg slotted Maslany—who was trending on Twitter worldwide following the nominations announcement—as the sixth nomination in his final Emmy nomination forecast.

A first-time nomination for Maslany wasn’t outside the realm of possibility, as she scored her first Golden Globe nomination earlier this year and recently won her second Critics Choice TV Award.
PHOTOS Emmy Awards: The Nominees
The Clone Club will have something to celebrate: On Wednesday, BBC America officially renewed the series for a third 10-episode season, with co-creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett already in the midst of planning the new arc.
“A lot of the things that we put in motion at the end of season two are obviously big story components going forward and new pieces to the puzzle,” Fawcett told THR in June. “We believe in giving the audience answers, but we have our mysteries and we want to earn the answers. This is kind of a new aspect to the larger puzzle that is Orphan Black.”
Maslany isn’t alone in her Emmy snub this year. Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss, The Blacklist‘s James Spader and Golden Globe-winner Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) are among those who failed to make the cut.
