PLUMAS COUNTY-

A moving truck plummeted into the Feather River off Highway 70 in Plumas County Thursday afternoon, according to the CHP.

Investigators say the driver, 74-year-old Leroy Shockey, was in a Penske rental truck carrying a dozen refrigerators. Shockey reportedly began to drift out of his lane, then lost control of the truck when he over corrected.

Passersby and first responders helped Shockey out of the truck. He was then sent to the hospital.

According to Plumas County News, Shockey is suffering from hypothermia.

It’s unclear what caused the crash, or if wind played a factor.
