A personal announcement, emphatic thank-you, and cheers to Fedora.

That... is... AWESOME. Yoink!

It's not a shocker to anyone that follows me on social media for the past year and a half, but to anyone else on the site: I came out as bi. It's weird how often you can shotgun such a thing into social media and still find people in your life that weren't informed. Cheers and high-fives all around!

Good on ya SuperDave! *high fives!*

Congratulations, SuperDave!

Congrats to Super Dave and onewild.

Thanks for sharing Onewilde and SuperDave. Congrats!

Ya know, I sometimes thing bi folk have more issues coming out. Way to many straight and gay people refuse to believe them and say sh*t like "oh, you just haven't come out all the way" or "just choose one side already". Which always makes me mentally facepalm. Yes, lets pressure people to be something they aren't, because we didn't get enough of that ourselves

That "bi now, gay later" mentality makes me want to smack people.

"Just choose a side" they said...

Or demand that you put a percentage on how gay you are.

"You mean like 70/30 straight, right?"

Thanks Onewilde and SuperDave.

My conjecture is that asexual and bisexual erasure/denialism are artifacts of binary hetero-normative assumptions that manage to linger on even within the LBGTQ community.

...you mean NS didn't originally stand for "Not Straight?"

It was "Not Sure".

President Not Sure?

The actual story about the meaning of "NS" is way less interesting than my tag makes it out to be. A friend of mine in college ran his own website that was basically a tumblr. Just a bunch of links to dumb pictures, gifs, videos, and weird news articles. It was called "NerdySouth," and he rebooted it once, requiring everyone to grab new usernames. Someone beat me to the punch of registering "Mike," so I just used the site's initials and made "NSMike."

Like most usernames made when younger, I feel a bit trapped by it, especially since I don't use "Mike" as a name anymore, but I don't really have an alternative.

Tell me and most of the folks who were here since Day 1 about it.

"His mama name him Rat Boy, I'mma call him Rat Boy."

As many of the trans folks here can attest: You can change your username. It's kind of a pain sometimes, and takes a while across the breadth of services you might be using, but it can be done.
