The 2014 Winter Olympics are over. And as with the last few days of Sochi coverage, NBC’s airing of the closing ceremony was down significantly from the 2010 winter games.
Sunday night’s closing ceremony averaged a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49 and 15.3 million viewers for the night — losses of 40 and 29 percent, respectively, from Vancouver.

Documentary special Nancy and Tonya, airing as part of NBC’s 90-minute Sochi Gold programming, took a 2.6 in the demo and 12.6 million viewers. NBC’s primetime also included a sampling of midseason comedy Growing Up Fisher, though adjusted figures won’t be available until later. Fast national returns give the final Olympic block a 2.9 rating with adults 18-49 and 13.5 million viewers.
Fox had a strong second thanks to the Daytona 500 prerace show and race. Early returns give the network an average 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 7 million viewers for the night — though time zone adjustments will see shifts in both measures.
CBS had a new 60 Minutes (1.2 adults) and the season premiere of The Amazing Race (1.6 adults). The latter was down nine-tenths of a point from last February’s comparable debut — though it did not have to contend with the Olympics or the 500 at the time. Both CBS series could be adjusted once 13 minutes of PGA overrun are taken into account.
ABC offered only repeats. Additional Olympic ratings, as well as adjusted returns for NBC’s Growing Up Fisher preview and the Daytona 500, will be available later on Monday.
