SundanceTV has set the leads for its upcoming One Child miniseries.
Game of Thrones’ Donald Sumpter and Weeds alum Elizabeth Perkins will star in the four-hour scripted miniseries, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The duo join Harry Potter alum Katie Leung in One Child, which centers on a Chinese-born woman adopted by British parents who must struggle with who she really is in order to decide where her loyalty lies.
Perkins and Sumpter will play Katherine and Jim Arthurton, Mei’s (Leung) English adoptive parents. Mei is a first-born Chinese girl adopted by English parents who gets called back to Guangzhou when her birth mother desperately seeks her assistance in saving her son in a look at how far a girl will go to help the woman who gave her away and the brother she’s never met.
Guy Hibbert (Complicit) penned One Child. Hilary Salmon will executive produce for BBC Productions. One Child is a BBC Drama production for BBC Two and is co-produced with SundanceTV and distributed by BBC Worldwide North America.
Emmy-nominated Perkins (How to Live With Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life) is repped by Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment and Loeb & Loeb; Sumpter (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) — whose Maester Luwin was killed off in season two of Game of Thrones — is with Feast Management.
