I've decided to look into EV training to make my Pokemon stronger in a competitive battle. I know about how to train EVs, using items such as Macho Brace or Power Bracer etc, but I was wondering what routes/caves/surf areas/other places were best for each specific EV stat.

I just politely requested people people to consider commenting on why they downvoted my question, in case it's feedback that I could use to improve the question. @galacticninja I don't want to continue bogging down that question with comments so I'll ping you here. I think mistakes were made on both sides on the comments getting out of control. But it seems like it's starting up again. In particular, your second comment seems to specifically be arguing with a downvote reason you were given.
Basically, if someone gives you a downvote reason you disagree with, shake your head, sigh an exasperation, and then move on. I know it feels like you need to argue with it since it's now in the comments and other people might see it and think "hey, that's a good downvote reason!", but that's the risk you take when you ask them to specify the reason in the first place.
Otherwise we just end up with those 20 comment almost-flame-wars. Which, personally, I enjoy reading and participating in, but probably aren't in the best interest of the site.
For the most part, I don't even care. I think comments like that actually inhibit downvotes, though, because when it's coming from a 16K user, it sounds like comments are required to downvote.
@fbueckert This is exactly why I respond to so many of the comments you leave on posts that I disagree with. And I never said providing your downvote reason was bad.
I'm saying arguing back and forth about it almost never is constructive.
I also think it's unfair to assume that @galacticninja only asks for downvote reasons so he can argue with them. That may be what's probably going to happen, but if you raise a point he considers valid, I think it's safe to say he would indeed make the edit to his question to make it better.
@Sterno That's somewhat disingenuous. At 16K, a single downvote or two doesn't matter, and he knows it. He asks that every single time any of his questions garner ANY downvotes.
@FEichinger I am looking through trying to find an example and failing, so you might be right. However, I do notice he leaves comments on stuff that's not even his asking for downvote explanations. I don't think it's about the rep game.
