SACRAMENTO-

Megan Shuts has only known her new roommate Danielle Pruden for a short amount of time, ever since she moved in last week.

But the two formed an immediate bond.

“During that whole week me and her we were hanging out every day and going to the gym and I’d gotten to know her really well,” Shuts told FOX40.

Then on Friday, April 18, Danielle said she was going out for a few hours. That was the last time anyone has heard from her.

“She didn’t take her tooth brush, she didn’t take any of her hair products, I mean this is all stuff that a girl would want to take,” Shuts said while looking through Pruden’s bathroom. “It’s just really weird.”

Shuts said she knows something is wrong because Pruden left behind her puppy a Yorkshire terrier named Weston.

“I mean she loved that thing, he’s just this little Yorkie, he’s so cute. She’s a mom, she has that motherly instinct, she wouldn’t do that,” Shuts said.

The Sacramento Sheriff’s department also believes something is wrong.

Detectives have made contact with Pruden’s family in Kentucky, where her daughter lives.

Typically, she would call and check in daily.

“She has not been contacting her family back in Kentucky as she has every single day since March 20th. Her cell phone is now disconnected,” said Lisa Bowman, a spokesperson for the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who has seen Pruden’s car, a tan PT Cruiser convertible with a black top and Kentucky plates.

Shuts also warns the photo of Pruden released by the Sheriff’s Department is misleading, because she now has blonde hair.

She also said her voice is unique.

“A really thick southern accent,” Shuts said.

Shuts has been searching in Pruden’s room, where she left much of her belongings, but so far she’s found no clues.

She just hopes her friend is okay.

“She doesn’t know anybody out here and I feel like right now I’m going crazy and nobody else is and it just sucks,” Shuts said.
