Urman, currently a consulting producer on The CW’s Reign, has two pilots in contention this season. On the comedy side, she has single-camera entry Sober Companion, starring Justin Long, set up at Fox with an eye toward series production. On the drama front, Urman has an adaptation of Venezuelan telenovela Jane the Virgin in the mix at The CW.
“Jennie’s had a remarkable pilot season, selling a comedy as well as a very unique twist on the most popular genre in the world, the telenovela,” CBS Television Studios president David Stapf said. “There is truly nothing she can’t do. Jennie is one of the most versatile, inventive writers and showrunners working today and we feel very fortunate that CBS will continue to be her home for years and years to come.”
Urman started her career in comedy, spending three years on Hope and Faith before segueing into drama. Her credits include Gilmore Girls, Men in Trees and Reign as well as the feature Something Borrowed.

“I am thrilled to continue my great relationship with David Stapf, Julie McNamara, Kate Adler and Jim Donnelly. I love everything about CBS Studios, especially getting to work with both the drama and comedy teams,” Urman said.
She’s repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson.
Urman joins Hawaii Five-0‘s Peter Lenkov, Entourage‘s Doug Ellin, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and NCIS‘ Shane Brennan, among others, at the studio.
