MODESTO-
Locks were left dangling and shelves were left bare after burglars hit Westurf Nursery early Wednesday morning in Modesto.
Owner Elena Welch got a call overnight that her family business was cleaned out.
“They took line trimmers, pole saws and chainsaws,” Welch said.
The business has been robbed before but this time was different.
“They cut through the women’s restroom and cut through a water pipe,” Welch said.
The two men used a saw to cut through aluminum siding at the nursery, cutting through the restroom wall.
“They had saws to cut through,” she said. “They must have watched us ahead of time to see which way they’d make access.”
Surveillance video shows the masked their bed calming cutting the wire and locks that held the equipment in place.
The duo managed to pull off the heist without triggering the alarm.
“We put up the fence, we put in lighting,” Welch said.
Westurf has been a victim to crime before, and hope this time is the last.
