SACRAMENTO —

There’s a six mile run, a 12-and-a-half-mile bike race, and then it`s time to head out of the water as part of the six-mile paddle.

It’s the ultimate triathlon in its 41st year here in Sacramento.

It’s Eppie’s Great Race, where everyone is a winner, even though the race lost the person who started it all: founder Eppie Johnson. He died in 2013 at the age of 85. Now Eppie’s son is carrying on the legacy.

The race attracts more than 3600 people from all 50 states and over ten countries.

It’s recognized as the largest single-day kayaking event in the world.
