Rich Blomquist is expanding his relationship with 20th Century Fox Television.
The Daily Show alum has inked a two-year overall deal with the studio behind comedy American Monster, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Under the pact, Blomquist will develop new projects for the studio after the network handed out a script commitment last year to American Monster, a comedy that he co-wrote with his wife and Daily Show contributor Kristen Schaal.

“Rich is one of those rare voices — hilarious, irreverent, completely unique and fiercely intelligent. We loved him from The Daily Show and knew we wanted to be in business with him exclusively. We loved working with him on American Monster and we can’t wait to develop with him again,” said 20th TV president of creative affairs Jonny Davis.
Blomquist worked as a writer for The Daily Show for 10 seasons. He shared in the show’s Emmy wins for variety series writing in 2003-06, ’09 and ’11-’13. Before that, he was a contributing writer on Saturday Night Live. Repped by UTA, he also co-wrote the critically acclaimed entry The Sexy Book of Sexy Sex, which was published by Chronicle Books in 2010.
At the studio, he joins a roster of talent including Modern Family‘s Steve Levitan and Chris Lloyd, Glee‘s Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, Family Guy‘s Steve Callaghan and more.
