Hysteria has found another male lead.
Mixology star Adan Canto has landed a lead role in the Amazon drama pilot opposite Mena Suvari and T.R. Knight, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Hysteria centers on Dr. Logan Harlow (Suvari), a bright but socially awkward doctor at the University of Texas medical school who travels to Austin to investigate a mysterious epidemic among high school girls that might be spreading through technology.
Canto, who also appeared as Sunspot in X-Men: Days of Future Past, has been cast as Matt Sanchez, a self-deprecating survivor whose sister, Daisy, was best friends with Logan when they were kids and who begins to enter a complicated relationship with Logan. Logan’s brother Carter (Knight) is convicted of a crime, but Matt has always believed he is innocent.
Hysteria, from Universal Television, is written and executive produced by Shaun Cassidy, Sharon Hall, Adam Schroeder and Otto Bathurst, who also will direct the pilot. Filming currently is underway in Austin.
Canto is repped by UTA, Spellbound Entertainment and attorney Joseph R. Weiner. He starred as Dominic in ABC comedy Mixology and made his U.S. debut in the first season of Fox’s The Following.
