West Coast hopefuls looking to audition for the next season of American Idol can do so in an unusual location this coming weekend: the San Diego State Fair.
For the first time in the show’s 14-year history, auditions will be held at the fairgrounds in Del Mar, California. All eligible fairgoers between the ages of 15 and 28 can try out without registering, and can bring an instrument if they choose.

The open call will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 13, and from 10 a.m. to 8p.m. on Saturday, June 14.
American Idol‘s big-city auditions kick off on June 18, beginning in Minneapolis atMariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota.
